Welcome to SLUGS, the University
of Sheffield’s gaming society!
As a society we have both
competitive and casual players. If you want to take part in University esports, socialise
through gaming or meet new people with similar interests then we are the society for you. We
run weekly online socials where you can socialise through gaming and we aim to resume
running our regular LAN events and bar socials when quarantine has been relaxed
sufficiently.
More competitive gamers may compete in UK university leagues offered by
and The NUEL. In 2020 we collaborated with Hallam to offer our first esports varsity
event and we are eager to hold more tournaments within the society in the future. Multiple
teams can sign up for each game every season so players of all levels are encouraged to
play. Team finder forms will be posed to the SLUGS Facebook page near the start of each
competitive season, however players may also form their own teams independently.
